Operators Sustainability Audit
Operators do still have some time left to commission an audit partner for the annual sustainability audit which must be provided to Ofgem with respect to the April 2014 – April 2015 reporting year.
Dates for operators to submit their audit report are as follows:
- 31st May 2015 – bioliquid
- 30th June 2015 – solid biomass or biogas
- 31st May – if using either of two of the above
EnviroSense can prepare and conduct the impartial sustainability audit for your company in accordance with the attestation engagement framework, ISAE 3000.
We suggest that operators allow a sensible period of time to resolve any data discrepencies, material misstatements or similar matters between the auditor and the operators prior to completion of the report and submission deadlines. It is the operators responsibility to send the audit report to Ofgem, not the audit company. Therefore do allow time for the auditor to complete the report in full and at least obtain a firm date from the audit company when you shall receive the report.
We are currently conducting attestation engagements for Operators to comply with their obligations. We have particular experience in:
- Mass balance systems; which in previous audits appear to involved significant efforts made by operators
- Woodfuel and the Timber Standard
- Assessing Category A and B evidence
- Anaerobic digestion
- Auditing and attestation engagements
The audits must have a positive approach as the auditor needs to work with the audit (operator) to fully assess all aspects of fuel management and reporting. This requires cooperation from the client and we have noted this is best achieved with a positive approach shown by the auditor.
